EOL 7-Segment Display Secured for Series Product
A discontinued 7-segment display threatened to halt an ongoing production run. We secured remaining stock and validated a long-term alternative.
The challenge
A measuring-instrument manufacturer received an end-of-life notice for a specific 7-segment display fitted to an active series product. Without a replacement, production would have had to stop; a short-notice redesign of the front panel was not a realistic option.
Our solution
We first sourced available remaining stock of the original display through our network (last-time buy) to secure near-term supply. In parallel, we identified and validated a pin- and dimension-compatible alternative via our component-matching process — including a comparison of brightness, color, and drive interface.
The result
The remaining stock bridged approximately 18 months of production. The validated alternative is ready as a permanent solution, allowing the series product to continue without a front-panel redesign. The customer now has two secured sourcing paths.
First remaining stock to bridge the gap, then a verified alternative — that two-stage approach is exactly what saved us from a redesign.
Anonymized, industry-typical application example.
